It is obvious that most authors reserve their views on certain issues for fear of vilification.
Fair enough. Should I stop reading works from Tom Clancy because he was American Republican? Even though my personal opinion is that there do seem to be a lot of jerks in his party? Do I have the right to point out that Australia feels like General Sani Abacha’s Nigeria where journalists got raided all the time? Or better yet, should I admit I do think most people look good in heels but believe any government official who enforces it has taken his foot fetish a little too far? I could go on and don’t let me get started on the differences between weather and climate; or the fact that we have many leaders today who prefer a stick to a rose. My point is, we are authors and our success is partly based on ‘sellability’, true; however, we are also human and I personally believe it is entirely possible for us to have differences. If I don’t like it I ask you to leave or I do so myself. To be honest, if our views are so conflicting that you end up making shirts to insult me or send armed ‘jerks’ to shoot at me or think a war wasn't cool enough, then we are way past the humane. Yes mate, you are not human. Number 1 rule, do unto others what you expect to be done to you
